Day 1:
Departure from Marrakech in the morning via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2267m) in the High Atlas Mountains. In the afternoon, drive to the edge of the Draa Valley and admire the longest palm oasis in Morocco before arriving in the Sahara Desert to stay with nomadic families who live there with their animals. Spend your first night with them, exploring their nomadic way of life.
Day 2:
The trek begins after loading the camels. We walk towards the dunes of the Sahara Desert, first crossing the Bani Mountains via a pass with incredible scenery, then descending towards the immense Lamrayr dunes where we will set up our nomadic camp in the heart of the dunes. Enjoy a magical sunset and your second night under the starry Saharan sky.
Day 3:
A day of exploring the hidden treasures of the Sahara with a 4-hour camel trek. We’ll discover desert wildlife such as ostriches, gazelles, and various desert plants, until we reach a well to water the camels, gather water, and collect firewood. Then we return to camp for the third night, sharing in the preparation of traditional meals around the fire, such as sand bread, with the local team.
Day 4:
After a magical sunrise over the dunes and breakfast, we’ll reload the camel and begin our trek. The landscape will change from dunes and red plateaus to a mountainous area surrounded by volcanic rocks, where we’ll set up camp for the 5th time. Preparing mint tea, have lunch, and take a nap. Then, gathering firewood for our evening meals, experiencing a simulation of nomadic life with the local nomad team.
Day 5:
Wake up to breathtaking views of the Sahara mountains. After breakfast, we continue our adventure through new landscapes, crossing open spaces and having lunch along the way in the shade of a tamarisk tree at the foot of the dunes. We’ll then continue our trek across red plateaus to the great dunes of Erg Lehoudi for our last night in the heart of the Sahara’s sand dunes.
